According to reports, this goods train took 3 years, 8 months and 7 days to reach Basti.
The train was delayed for more than 3 years
It so happened that Ramchandra Gupta, a businessman in Basti, had ordered Diammonium Phosphate from Indian Potash Limited, Visakhapatnam, for his business in 2014. This material was worth about Rs 14 lakh. 1316 sacks of material were loaded on the goods train on 10 November 2014. The train left the station on time. But then it got so late that it reached Basti in Uttar Pradesh after 3 years and 8 months, i.e. on 25 July 2018.
The train disappeared from the way
The railway employees and other staff were also stunned to know this. The train had to complete the journey in 42 hours. When the train did not reach Basti in November 2014, Ramchandra Gupta contacted the railways and also lodged several written complaints. But the administration did not take any action. But later it was found out that the train disappeared on the way and lost its way.
According to media reports, Sanjay Yadav, Chief Public Relation Officer of North Eastern Railway Zone, had said that when a coach or bogie is considered unfit for travel, it is sent to the yard. It seems that the same thing might have happened with this train as well, it must have been standing in a yard for a long time. After investigation, the train reached Basti station. However, nothing was known about why the train got delayed and where it was for so long. After waiting for so long, the fertilizer had been ruined in 3 years.
